![]() ![]() ROAD TRANSPORT City Buses There are many buses and mini-buses available at Ratna Park (old bus park) and Gongabu (new bus park) which depart for different destinations in the valley. There is also a Trolley Bus Service which starts at Tripureshwor (near the Dashrath Stadium), runs along the the Arniko Highway and ends at Surya Vinayak (Bhaktapur). The bus operates from early morning (5.00 or 6.00 a.m.) and runs till late evening (8.00 or 9.00 p.m.).New Metered Taxi
Hired Private Car One can rent a private car through a travel agent or a car rental company. The normal charges for:Half day is Rs. 700/-, and One full day is Rs. 1,200/- Auto Rikshaw (Metered Tempo) These black three wheeler metered tempos are also available in the valley. The fare is slightly cheaper than the metered taxis. Hired Mountain Bike / Ordinary Bicycle The mountain bike and ordinary bicycle are cheap and best form of transportation for economy tourists. One can hire them from Thamel, Rani Pokhari, Jhochhen etc. It will cost about (Mountain Bike) Rs. 80 to Rs.100 and (Ordinary Bicycle) Rs. 25 to Rs. 35 per day. Long Distance Bus Service Long distance day or Night bus service is available from Kathmandu to all cities of Nepal. The bus terminal is located on the Ring Road at Gongabu near Balaju from where buses depart for the different destinations.
